Testing underglazes at cone 6! This was fun! And informative... Mostly Amaco velvets; a couple colors are from Speedball and Duncan. Tiles are red Laguna B-mix with white slip on the left half and clear glaze over most of the tile.

I'm making another little flock of sheep planters -- I love pinch pots, cute things, glaze experiments, and my laser level so I'm pretty happy in my studio this morning.

I really like throwing these little jars in one piece because closing up the top feels like a magic trick. The clay here got a little thin at the top and collapsed into this swirl shape when I tried for a knob, but it's pretty fun r
I don't usually use commercial decals but imho these are the perfect complement to the glaze.

This wall panel is one of my favorite pieces from my show "Safety Zone" at Eye Lounge back when I lived in Phoenix. I love testing and experimenting; I'm really proud that I *nailed* getting the green engobe and green glaze the
I made a color woodblock print! My favorite part is where the blue and dark purple overlap; this effect would be fun to explore further. Bonus color!

This is one of the first pieces I made in a ceramics class back in 2015! Red clay with sgraffito through white slip, then painted after bisque with cobalt and various stains.

It's pretty fun! Kinda like decorating plates, but with two-finger tap to undo. Also I can snuggle up with a fuzzy blanket, which is (unfortunately) not normally part of my studio practice.

Did you know that apple pickers also snip the stems so apples don't puncture each other? (According to the Ologies podcast I listened to earlier this week.) I like shaping the knobs on these little closed forms; this jar reminds me of an apple.

The Aurora Potter's Guild Fall Sale is tomorrow and Saturday -- I'll be at table #50 with wall tiles, tiny lamb sculptures and planters, fun salt + pepper sets, and gorgeous plates. Let me know if there is something on my website (link in bio) or in
Sometimes I have as much fun drawing forms as throwing them. The 2 top left vases are my favorites.

Right now I'm enjoying the swoopy shape made by the areas of bare red clay. Last time I hung these panels they were swapped left/right and the blue-grey glazed sections were a sort of pool.

Pit firing at Washington Heights Art Center this weekend with @allmuddyclay, @potsbymadi, @j.l.clay, and Janet Schreiner was super fun and Zoey was a great guide to the process!Definitely heading back for another day of it.

Used my laser level to get the stripes perpendicular to the rim! Don't worry, I was careful to work facing the wall so I didn't blind the other people in the studio. #safetyfirst
